Heading home afterwards, I was reflecting on what networking actually means from a marketing perspective.
We talk a lot about digital strategy and algorithms in marketing, but face-to-face networking is often a highly underrated marketing tool. It’s the simplest, most honest way to build long-term awareness for your business.
But the real value goes so much deeper than just trading referrals.
Running a small business can be incredibly lonely, frustrating, and daunting. You carry the weight of every decision on your own. But when you find your community, that weight gets a lot lighter. Over time, the people you share a coffee or a burger with stop being just business contacts—they become genuine friends.
As individuals, we navigate the quiet times and the challenges in isolation. But together, we support one another.
With Elm Marketing Solutions reaching its tenth anniversary soon, I’ve spent a decade riding the highs and lows of running a business. If these ten years have taught me anything, it’s that survival and growth rely entirely on the strength of your relationships.
